A Day in the Field with Saman

Filmmaker and CRSC grantee Jael Vizcarra accompanies Saman as he shows her the crops he grows in his field and films him telling the story of the commercialization of ginger in the province of Misiones.

I love the use of the fisheye perspective as the filmer follows Saman around. It uniquely centers Saman and his farm work while the rest of the world bends around them. The choice of Lao music was also enjoyable. It was interesting to hear Saman talk about connections between the Lao and Chinese community in Argentina. Overall, very insightful look into the untold story of Lao refugee transnationality in Argentina and knowledge of the land.
